Mystery of the Mega Flood

In the movie, Mystery of the megaflood, there is a large terrain about 200 miles east of Seattle called the “scablands”. The reason for its names is because they are is filled with hills and valleys that appear to be formed by great amounts of water. No one really understood why these ripple effects had taken place because there had been any evidence of any type of flowing water. One man named Harlen Bretz brought up an idea that the scablands had actually had a massive flood that made this hills and valleys. Many people thought are idea was absurd until Joseph Pardee helped him go deeper into his mission about solving this mystery.  Pardee discovered an area in Montana where the Great Lakes use to be and he believes that I the dam to the lakes had broken, maybe the lake water had flown into the scablands. The problem was that the dam was a massive iceberg and many highly doubted that it would break. Well, later in Iceland the same thing had happened and it solved the mystery.

The Flood of Middle Georgia

The Flood of middle Georgia occurred in 1994 and over 500 were evacuated from their homes in downtown Macon. In the entire flood took 18 lives. Because of the flood a levee near the Otis Redding Bridge south of the industrial park ended up breaking. In order to fix this problem, the Savannah District of the U.S. Army Corps gathered over 20,000 sandbags to help support the fallen levee. City Workers and even inmate were frantically stacking the sandbags selected to stop the flooding. The two interstates that were affected by the flood were I16 and I75. They actually became shut down which had never happened before and causing a shortage of water, food, and supplies in other counties. The reason for this shortage was because the flood took their main transportation. The flood was a huge disaster for the people in middle Georgia simply because so many people were affected.

The Perfect Storm

One thing i notived in the movie, The Perfect Storm was first hand look at the Coriolis effect. In the movie when the broadcasters or weather experts were looking at the hurricane, i could see that it was moving counterclock wise. The reason for the hurricanes move counterclock wise in the Nothern Hemisphere is because of the Coriolis effect. By definition, the Coriolis effect is the "an effect whereby a mass moving in a rotating system experiences a force acting perpendicular to the direction of motion and to axis of rotation."

Place I found definition for coriolis effect

This is my plant so far after a couple of weeks. I have noticed that the bottom leaves are not as green as the top and that the plant grows in section. Each section are divided by the leaves.
